Ivan, a journalist, is desperate to leave the tyrannical Eastern European country that is his home and seek asylum in the US. Silenced by his bosses and rejected by his family for his views, his only joy in life is his daughter Olga.
Escaping the city, he visits his grandma in a remote village and finds her and the residents living in fear after the abduction of many young girls. The kidnaps are rumoured to be the work of some kind of monster living in a forest cave. When Ivan is pursued by abductors himself, he takes a chance to flee to the US, leaving his wife and daughter behind. After settling, he learns his own daughter is missing too and to cope with the stress, he turns to Dr Brooke Ashley for help - who in turn calls in FBI agent Thorn to find clues about Olga's disappearance. But then Ivan disappears too...
I live in Switzerland and am a writer, dancer and actress. My novels, though fiction, were written in part based on my own life experiences - having spent time in my 20's dealing with severe OCD and anxiety.
The mind's capacity for playing games with us has fascinated me ever since. This sense of confusion between reality and illusion is more common than we know and leaves us swimming in a sea that seems never ending.
